The small town of St. Paul, TX is located northwest of Dallas, close to the shores of Lavon Lake and bordered by the city of Wylie. St. Paul is small in both area and population, at a mere 1.5 square miles and an estimated 1,100 residents.
St. Paul was established in 1971 when locals broke away from neighboring Wylie in order to preserve their spacious, rural environment and apparently to free themselves of Wylie’s various taxes, rules and regulations. Administration of St. Paul was designed to be handled by six elected officials and a town secretary. Interest in St. Paul steadily grew over the following years, with several small businesses and a volunteer fire department established in the early 1980s. St. Paul’s town hall was soon moved to its present location in 1990.
